Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia (HPI) or Indonesian Tourist Guide Association (ITGA) is an organization which was established based on outcome of Himpunan Duta Wisata Indonesia (HWDI) Convention held at Pertamina Cottages Kuta Beach Bali Indonesia on March 27, 1983. It is the first national convention initiated by Joop Ave, The Former Minister for Tourism, Post and Telecommunication of The Indonesian Republics. The convention was attended by nine provincial guide associations and Bali Guide Association acted as the host.
On October 5th 1988 the Second Convention of Indonesian Tourist Guide Association took place in City of Palembang – South Sumatra and HDWI changed its name become HPI (Himpunan Pramuwisata Indonesia).
